The University of Queensland
Master of Peace and Conflict Studies. The Master of Peace and Conflict Studies (MPaCS) at UQ builds knowledge of the forces that generate contemporary conflict and the processes that contribute to conflict prevention, resolution and peacebuilding. Housed in the School of Political Science and International Studies, the programme draws on staff expertise in Indigenous politics, gender, ethics, justice, development and security, and offers coursework, fieldwork and research thesis options.

Master of Social Justice (Peace and Conflict Studies). The University of Sydney's long-running Master of Peace and Conflict Studies, once taught through the Centre and later Department of Peace and Conflict Studies founded in 1988, now continues as the Peace and Conflict Studies stream of the Master of Social Justice. The programme explores the interconnections between peace, conflict and justice, from reconciliation after mass violence to UN peacekeeping, and concludes with a dissertation or a social justice internship.

Peace Studies: Established in 2001 the MA Program in Peace Studies at the University of Innsbruck was strongly inspired by the UNESCO’s famous Manifesto 2000, which proposed to turn the new millennium into a new beginning, an opportunity to change, all together, the culture of war and violence into a culture of peace and non-violence. In addition to a first class academic education of the network in Peace Studies the Innsbruck program offers a special field training component designed to integrate academic excellence with the skills required in real conflict situations. Students have to be prepared for the adventure of a very holistic – physical, emotional and intellectual – exploration of themselves, their society and in more general terms of the whole world. Transrational peaces, as defined in this program, twist the division between subject and object; they go beyond the conventional limits of reason; they are not only rational but also relational; they start the search for peace with the deconstruction of the observer’s identity; they apply all the methods of conventional peace studies and go much further. Thereof derives a unique curriculum and the world’s most challenging academic training program for peace workers.

The Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Dhaka is one of the few full peace studies departments in South Asia, offering a Master of Social Sciences in Peace and Conflict Studies alongside an undergraduate programme. For working professionals from sectors such as the armed forces, diplomacy, NGOs and media, the department also runs a Professional Masters in Peace, Conflict and Human Rights taught on weekends.

The English-taught Master of Science in Conflict and Development Studies at Ghent University approaches violent conflict and development from a critical political economy and ethnographic perspective. Run by the Conflict Research Group, the one-year programme focuses on the local dynamics of conflict and intervention in the Global South, combining theoretical training with region-specific case studies and strong attention to fieldwork-based research.

MA in Applied Conflict Transformation Studies. The Applied Conflict Transformation Studies (ACTS) MA, run by the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in Siem Reap and accredited by Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, has been designed specifically for Asian peace practitioners since 2004. The two-year part-time programme blends residential seminars and online modules around participants' ongoing peace work, concluding with an action research thesis rooted in their own practice.

MA in Conflict Studies. Saint Paul University in Ottawa offers a Master of Arts in Conflict Studies through its School of Conflict Studies, conferred jointly with the University of Ottawa. The programme trains analysts of international, national and local conflicts with particular attention to the ethnic and religious dimensions of deep-rooted conflict, combining a social science orientation with philosophical and ethical perspectives on reconciliation, healing and structural change.

Joint MA in Peace and Conflict Studies. The University of Manitoba, together with the University of Winnipeg, offers a Joint Master's Program in Peace and Conflict Studies anchored in the Arthur V. Mauro Institute for Peace and Justice at St Paul's College. The programme takes an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis and resolution of social conflicts, examining the structural roots of division and inequality and strategies for building community, human rights and social justice.

The Master of Peace and Conflict Studies (MPACS) at Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo, is a professional programme rooted in the Mennonite peacebuilding tradition. It equips students with the knowledge and skills to contribute to nonviolent peacebuilding through core training in conflict transformation, optional internships, and a strong practitioner orientation within a supportive learning community.

Maestría en Construcción de Paz. The Master's in Peacebuilding at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá is an interdisciplinary programme created in the context of the Colombian peace process, and the only one of its kind in Colombia examining peacebuilding from both national and international perspectives. It trains professionals and researchers to design, implement and evaluate peacebuilding initiatives, drawing on the university's research on transitional justice, reconciliation and the implementation of the 2016 peace agreement.
